777 South Broad Street Project

In the heart of downtown urban Philadelphia, P. DiMarco was contracted to perform all site work for the 777 South Broad Street project. This exciting project is a mixed-use development consisting of 146 residential units atop street-level retail on Philadelphia’s Avenue of the Arts. The concept’s intent is to create a contemporary urban living environment surrounded by pedestrian-friendly spaces. This project is pursuing LEED Certification.

Challenge

Solution

The challenge in many urban projects is the limited room to work, with many trades seeking the same limited areas. Working in conjunction with Intech Construction and Dranoff Properties, our first duties were to safely and effectively stabilize the site to support the new structures, while occupying as limited areas as possible.

Due to the conditions of the existing soils, this challenge became even more difficult. Substantial undercutting was required which exposed existing utilities and old building foundations.
